Define the boundary between systems

The reader observes identifiers; the application interprets them within a task; the ERP, WMS, or asset system owns the resulting business record. Name the owner of each field and state transition before building a connection. An integration brief should say what may be updated, by whom, and under which conditions.

Filter without losing useful evidence

Repeated observations of one tag are not necessarily repeated business transactions. Group observations within the intended task and retain enough context to investigate mistakes. Capture time, device or station, and task identity can help explain a result. Avoid discarding information solely because it does not fit the successful path.

Map identifiers and handle unknowns

Document how an RFID identifier resolves to an item, asset, container, or kit. Decide which system supplies that mapping and how corrections are controlled. Unknown identifiers should create an actionable exception with enough context for investigation. Do not automatically infer a product, owner, or quantity from an unmapped value.

Make retries safe

A network interruption can leave the sender unsure whether an update succeeded. Define a stable transaction identifier, an acknowledgement, and a retry policy so that repeating delivery does not create a second receipt or issue. Track pending, accepted, and rejected updates separately. Give an operator or administrator a supported recovery path rather than requiring an unexplained manual database change.

Commission the exception paths

Test a normal update, repeated delivery, a missing mapping, a rejected transaction, and a downstream outage. Check permissions and the audit record for corrections. Document responsibility for the reader configuration, application, interface, and business system. Theia scopes custom software and integration around these requirements; a named third-party connector is only an existing capability when its availability has been confirmed.
